Fernando Castro Pacheco was born in Merida, Yucatan and is a painter, muralist, illustrator, print maker and teacher, and has also illustrated several children’s books and produced works in sculpture. He was a co-founder and instructor at La Escuela Libre de Las Artes Plasticas de Yucatan. In 1943, Castro Pacheco moved to Mexico City, where he began working with the Taller de Grafica Popular (TGP), an important printmaking workshop.
