FRANCISCO DOSAMANTES
1911-1986
Francisco Dosamantes was born in Mexico City in 1911 and studied art at the Academia de San Carlos. He was a founding member of many artists groups in Mexico, including “30-30" and the League of Revolutionary Writers and Artists (LEAR). In 1937, he became a founding member of the Taller de Grafica Popular, an important print workshop in Mexico City. He is best known for his work in lithography, particularly his images of the native women of Mexico.
