Mexican sculptor, printmaker and draftsman, Francisco Zuñiga initially studied sculpture under his father, Manuel María Zúñiga and subsequently at the Escuela de Talla Directa. Throughout his career, Zúñiga drew inspiration from the female form. His models were the indigenous women of southeastern Mexico, whom he represented standing or seated, singly, in pairs or in a group. His drawings and prints served as an extension of this exploration.
